Residency

Qeu Meparishvili and Ilare

28.08.2026 – 19.11.2026

Fondazione Elpis welcomes Ilare and Qeu Meparishvili, participants in the new residency cycle of Atelier Elpis.

Ilare’s research is grounded in impermanence, in the relationship with space and in the constant transformation of matter. Her works are living organisms that do not resist change, decay or free interaction with the public. The artist frequently uses materials such as water, clay, soap, found objects, glass, ceramics, organic matter, and plant and animal elements, combining different languages, from sculpture to drawing, from video to sound, from photography to performative action.

Qeu Meparishvili’s practice, by contrast, ranges between sculpture and installation and is deeply shaped by the cultural context of her country, Georgia, where she lives and works. Her research explores themes related to mythology, human nature and life after death, translating them into symbolic and poetic forms. By reviving traditional Georgian craft techniques and building visual archives, Meparishvili weaves together cultural memory and marginal stories, giving value back to often invisible subjects and reflecting on the dynamics of belonging and coexistence.
