Matter of Sound

What is a sounding body?
Can a spatula and a pumpkin speak to us?
What a language, without air, without breath!
We come together to create instruments, a collage of artefacts to be looked at and listened to. A special journey into the voice of things, towards an enchanted and imaginary materialism, and towards a subtler, livelier perception, running parallel to the countless possible worlds.
The philosopher Jane Bennett reminds us that in Italian and French the word incantare/enchanter (to enchant) is connected to the verb cantare/chanter (to sing).
In-cantare: to surround with song or with a spell, and so to captivate through sound, to bring under the influence of a magic refrain, to sweep into a flow of sound.
Oh Oh (Oggetti parlanti – Talking Objects) presents itself as a state of mind: a way of being and thinking that builds an ethics of generosity, dreaming of stirring emotional energy, visualising landscapes of meaning, and building with our hands – testing, adjusting and bringing to life a prototype around the theme of sound, both concrete and otherwise, from the perspective of the self-built instrument.
Fanta-instruments, in short: mostly acoustic, non-electric, made from a selection of found objects and diverse materials, assembled playfully, like sculptures to keep us company, to keep the house from being left alone, to call the fish and the birds, for dancing, or for a brief pause in time, in the shape of clouds.
