True Reality

Fondazione Elpis presents a solo exhibition by Benjamin Jones, placing the work of the British artist in dialogue with the research of Linda Fregni Nagler and Stefano Graziani. Through the various works, the exhibition highlights the relationships between scientific observation and image, the importance of the archive's photographic memory, and extends to investigations into the processes through which the visible is constructed and transmitted. The exhibition proposes a reflection on photography as a critical device capable of continually redefining our relationship with reality.

The exhibition presents a selection of new and previously exhibited works, offering an overview of Benjamin Jones's research. Moving between figurative images and analog experimentation, the artist often turns his gaze to natural history museums, botanical gardens, and protected landscapes—places dedicated to the conservation and production of knowledge. In these contexts, nature and artifice coexist within systems of cataloguing, where plants, taxidermied specimens, botanical details, and display devices become the starting point for a reflection on the photographic gaze and its relationship with knowledge.
