As part of the exhibition Dove non sono mai stato, là sono, on the occasion of the five-year anniversary of Una Boccata d'Arte, Polisonum presents a live performance. The artists – who took part in the 2021 edition in Gesualdo (AV), Campania – return with a reworking of the project A CINQUE VOCI.
The choral dimension is reduced to a single voice that becomes a sonic gesture, a body that breathes, holds, and releases. It is more an exercise than a performance, a practice of radical exposure and listening. The verse is broken down, deformed, stretched; each syllable shatters, extends to the limit, to silence. Real-time electronic processing accompanies and transforms the voice, multiplying it in space, creating echoes, counterpoints, tensions.
In all its forms – choral performance, sound installation, solo action – A CINQUE VOCI is an exploration of the voice as material, of sound as a physical and perceptual act. A reflection on memory and time, on the possibility of making an ancient fragment resonate, even today, as if it were ours – present, necessary.
