Fondazione Elpis presents Se ascolti tutto risponde. Storie e gesti di Una Boccata d’Arte at Officine Bellotti in Palermo. Curated by Bianca Buccioli and Giulia Monroy, the exhibition is open to the public free of charge from 12 November 2026 to 7 January 2027.
Se ascolti tutto risponde brings together a selection of works and traces from the twenty interventions created for the seventh edition of Una Boccata d’Arte, which closed on 4 October 2026, alongside an archive dedicated to the project’s seven years, featuring videos, sounds, publications and documentary materials produced between 2020 and 2026.
In the spirit of Una Boccata d’Arte, with Se ascolti tutto risponde Fondazione Elpis extends the story of the initiative beyond the geographical and landscape boundaries within which the works were conceived, bringing to Palermo the wealth of relationships, knowledge and practices that the artists developed in close contact with the places and communities from which the works emerged.
The interventions by the twenty artists of the seventh edition arise from encounters with landscapes, people, knowledge and everyday practices, and embrace the relational dimension as an integral part of the artistic process. Transferred to the exhibition space, the works, originally conceived to engage with urban spaces, squares and local architecture, open up to new contexts and perspectives while preserving the intensity of the encounters and experiences that shaped them. What emerges is a heritage of stories and relationships that lives on and traces a possible future horizon: that of a country understood as a network of places, economies, gestures and feelings.
After Palermo, some works will return permanently to the villages where they were created; others will be represented through traces, fragments or new reworkings. It is in the passage from one context to another, in the tension between decontextualisation and recontextualisation, that the works continue to generate meanings and relationships. They are not static testimonies of concluded experiences, but living matter, capable of sparking new dialogues and building further connections, while keeping alive the memory of the encounters that took place.
On the occasion of the opening, Renato Grieco presents Passacalle, a new itinerant performance. The work brings together two of the composer’s musical projects: Doppiopasso, written for brass ensemble and developed from the imagery of the town band, and Continua, created this year in Lugo di Vicenza for Una Boccata d’Arte, which interweaves the memory of the village with that of the paper mill around which its economy has developed for centuries.
The title recalls the origins of the passacaglia, a form of music once performed while walking through the streets. In Palermo, a quartet of tuba, euphonium, trombone and French horn, led by performer Claudia Ottavia Piccolo, sets off together with the audience through the city streets to Officine Bellotti.
There, in the space once used to store paper, Grieco continues the performance on the viola da gamba with the repertoire of dances composed for Continua, drawing the audience into a more intimate dimension of listening. The music thus moves across different places, memories and scales without ever stopping, accompanying the audience as they enter the exhibition.
